Nick Schmaltz Buries Two Goals On Sunday
7 years agoChicago Blackhawks forward Nick Schmaltz lit the lamp twice in the Blackhawks 6-3 loss to the Ducks on Sunday. The Wisconsin native's second goal of the evening was his 20th of the season, marking an impressive milestone for the first-year player. Schmaltz has been a real bright spot in a down season for the Blackhawks, spending a considerable amount of time playing with one of the NHL's most talented players, Patrick Kane. While Schmaltz's 45 points (20 goals and 25 assists) are certainly impressive totals for a rookie, fantasy owners in redraft leagues should not rush to the waiver wire to pick him up. Schmaltz offers very little in peripheral categories, having produced just 16 penalty minutes, 12 power-play points, 99 shots and 11 hits in 62 games. With that said, the crafty forward has significant value in keeper leagues and should be expected to build off his strong campaign next season.
