Montreal Canadiens goaltender Antti Niemi allowed just two goals on 50 shots in a 2-1 overtime loss on Saturday. The 34-year-old journeyman was perfect through 57 minutes as the Bruins threw everything they had at the Habs net. Boston forward Jake DeBrusk eventually beat Niemi with less than three minutes remaining in regulation with a redirection on the power play. Bruins winger Brad Marchand then ended the match two minutes into overtime with a wrist shot that trickled in past the Montreal goalie. Niemi’s performance in the game was impressive, considering the Bruins have been considered Stanley Cup contenders since the beginning of 2018. The 33-year-old Finn now carries a .903 save percentage and 3.40 goals-against average in 17 appearances this season. If Niemi and Montreal can continue to post strong showings like this one, it will be safe to consider the goaltender a safe move for solid starts until Montreal's No. 1, Carey Price, returns from a concussion.--Alex McKenzie
