Francisco Liriano, Daniel Norris May Be Fighting For Spot
7 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitchers Francisco Liriano and Daniel Norris figure to be fighting for the final starting rotation spot this spring, and with Norris being out of minor league options, he appears to be the odd man out if Liriano wins the spot in camp. Liriano's contract includes incentives for games started, according to general manager Al Avila. Norris is just 24 and Liriano is 34. With the Blue Jays and Astros in 2017, Liriano struggled as a starter and reliever, posting a 5.66 ERA and 1.63 WHIP, but the Tigers are desperate for rotation help as they look to rebuild. Even though Liriano's fantasy value is better as a starter, he'd only be worth owning in AL-only leagues if he wins a rotation spot.
