The 60th running of the Daytona 500 is in the books after Austin Dillon picked up the win in the iconic #3 car on the 20-year Anniversary of the Dale Earnhardt winning the Great American Race. Now the Monster Energy Cup Series head to Atlanta Motor Speedway which is the third-oldest surface in the series. This means we will not hear the end of tires, tires, tires, as the falloff happens fast causing cars to slide around a ton. The only thing that could ruin the race is Mother Nature herself as there is a high probability of rain in the forecast.
For fantasy, there is a huge difference between Daytona and Atlanta as last week we concentrated on place differential to build our core whereas this week we will put a ton more emphasis on dominator points(laps led & fast laps). That doesn't mean will totally discount place differential as that will always be a factor due to qualifying and finding value plays. Let's jump in and take a look at some of the top plays.
Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks - Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500
Kevin Harvick($10,100)
Harvick is my top dominator pick this week and it is easy to see why. He has led 100 or more laps in four straight and five of the last six races here at Atlanta while. Add it all up and it equals an average of 98.1 DraftKings points per race which is just over 40 more per race than the driver with the second-best average. His final practice one-lap speed was done as he ranked 23rd but he posted the seventh-best 10-lap average and will start third this week. He is a great core driver target in all formats.
Kyle Busch($9,700)
The only other driver who I see battlignHarvick for laps led is Kyle Busch. While he has been inconsistent here at Atlanta, he has won here twice(2013, 2008) and was fourth behind Truex Jr, Harvick, and Larson last season in average DraftKings points per race on mile and a half intermediate tracks. To top it off, Kyle won the pole for the race and while his practice speeds were 20th and 15th, he posted the second-best 10-lap average in final practice. With the value available this week combined with Kyle's sub $10K price tag, you can stack Harvick and Busch together in a stars and scrubs lineup.
Ryan Blaney($8,400)
Martin Truex Jr. is going to be a very popular play starting at the back but my favorite place differential play this week is Ryan Blaney. He hasn't been too good here in his first two races finishing 25th and 18th but is showing a ton of promise this season. He will be starting 27th on Sunday but showed excellent speed in final practice posting the eighth-fastest speed and the sixth-fastest 10-lap average. In the mid $8K range, he is in play in all formats.
Ty Dillon($6,500)
Dipping down to the value range, the driver that stands out the most this week is Ty Dillon in the #13 car for Germain Racing. Ty showed speed in opening practice posting the fourth-fastest speed but then went on to qualify 29th for the race. He then posted the 22nd fastest speed in final practice and had the 19th fastest 10-lap average so a Top 20 is definitely in the cards which is more than enough to pay off his mid $6K price tag.
