Brewers Not Trying To Add Jonathan Lucroy
7 years agoMilwaukee Brewers general manager David Stearns said the team isn't trying to sign free-agent catcher Jonathan Lucroy. "I think we have confidence in our current catching group. In general, I think we got pretty meaningful production from our catching group last year," Stearns said. A former All-Star with Milwaukee, Lucroy was a complete fantasy bust in 2017 with the Rangers and Rockies. As expected, his numbers were better in Colorado, but he surprisingly only had two home runs in the thin air and six on the season in 123 games. Lucroy sacrificed his power for more contact in 2017, and fantasy owners will surely be skeptical of taking him as their starting catcher in 2018. However, he has better hitting skills than most backstops, and depending on where he lands, he could be in line for a bounce-back season.
