Dwight Powell Continues His Strong Bench Play
Dwight Powell had another outstanding outing off the Dallas bench on Tuesday, scoring 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting in the Mavericks loss to the Kings. Powell pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists in the game. The 26-year-old forward has come up big for the Mavericks lately, extending his streak of games with at least 18 points and six rebounds to four. Powell has earned a larger role in the Dallas rotation and should continue his strong play down the stretch, serving as the team's top player off the bench and as an occasional starter.

Dwight Powell Returning To The Court On Tuesday
Dwight Powell (hip) is available ahead of Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Mavs are banged up, but at least they'll get one reinforcement ahead of this game. Powell has been sidelined since mid-January due to a hip issue. That being said, Powell is likely going to be limited considering he hasn't played in over a month. Kessler Edwards figures to continue having a bigger role while Powell works his way back into the mix. Powell figures to see decent minutes once he's back up to full speed.

Dwight Powell Remains Out Against Pelicans
Dwight Powell (hip) will remain out of the lineup on Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans. It was always unlikely he would play, as the team listed him as doubtful on the initial injury report. Powell's absence will extend to 15 games. His last appearance was on Jan. 17. The Canadian center only participated in non-contact activities during Thursday's practice, indicating he is still some way from returning. With Daniel Gafford (knee), Dereck Lively II (ankle), and Anthony Davis (adductor) also sidelined, Dallas has brought in 7-foot-2 big man Moses Brown on a 10-day contract to bolster its frontcourt depth.

Dwight Powell Doubtful To Return Friday
Dwight Powell (hip) is nearing a return but is unlikely to be ready to play this Friday when Dallas hosts the Pelicans. Powell went through non-contact activities during practice on Thursday but was listed as doubtful on the injury report for Friday. Powell has been sidelined since January 17, but he has played limited minutes this season, averaging just 7.6 minutes in his 33 games. Despite that very limited workload, he could get extra work when available since Anthony Davis (adductor), Daniel Gafford (knee), and Dereck Lively (ankle) are all sidelined, while P.J. Washington (ankle) is questionable for Friday's contest.

Dwight Powell Ruled Out Thursday Against The Thunder
Dwight Powell (hip) will miss a third straight game for the Mavs when they visit the Thunder on Thursday night. Powell's absence is poorly timed since Dereck Lively II (ankle) is out for a while leaving Daniel Gafford to play huge minutes in the middle. Gafford has averaged 20.0 points and 11.3 rebounds over his last four games while also posting multiple blocks in each contest and averaging 3.5 blocks per game. Gafford should continue to get huge playing time at center for as long as Powell and Lively are out while Maxi Kleber fills in as the only real backup big man available.
