ANALYSIS: Thomas Rawls had his most productive game of the season in Week 9, both on the ground and in the air. Rawls had nine rushes for 39 yards and caught two passes for 31 yards en route to a season high 70 total yards. The fact that that was his best performance of the season shows how volatile the Seattle running backs have been on the year.
Rawls has been inactive for three games this year and virtually non-existent in the rest of them, but there is some reason for optimism going forward for the third year man. Seattle's addition of veteran left tackle Duane Brown, a three-time pro bowler, is a huge boost to an offensive line that has struggled mightily this season. Indeed, Rawls went six rushes for -1 yards last week to 39 yards on Sunday. While part of that can be attributed to the difference between the Texans and the Redskins defense, it is still notable.
Rawls will still be in a timeshare with fellow veteran Eddie Lacy and his ceiling is thus limited. However, an improved offensive line could help Rawls shine as the season goes on, and as long as he stays somewhat involved in the passing game (he has received eight targets in the last four games) he is worth an add in deeper PPR formats going forward.
