ANALYSIS: Few receivers have more big play potential than the explosive third-year receiver for Seattle, Tyler Lockett. Unfortunately, receivers like Lockett often fall into the boom-or-bust category, as games without a touchdown often yield poor results. Indeed Lockett has had two good weeks and two bad weeks from a fantasy perspective so far this season, although he has yet to find the end zone.
PPR formats will like that Lockett has still managed to exceed 10 points in two of his contests, but until Lockett is a legitimate touchdown threat he will likely only hold value in deeper formats. With Paul Richardson beginning to take more red zone opportunities, not to mention the presence of Jimmy Graham (even if he is under utilized) and of course Doug Baldwin, Lockett may not score as often as his fantasy owners will want him to this year. However, the Seahawks' offense took a major turn upward last week against the Colts and will face a Rams defense that has given up over 27 points three weeks in a row.
Week 5 seems like a great time for Lockett to enjoy his first taste of the end zone this year, making him an attractive boom-or-bust flex play in deeper formats. Expecting consistency from Lockett is foolish, but he will have his moments this year. Week 5 should be one of them.
