ANALYSIS: Paul Richardson caught a lot of attention toward the end of last season after filling in for an injured Tyler Lockett as the Seahawks No. 2 receiver. Richardson was able to haul in 15 catches for 213 yards and two touchdowns across the last four games in 2016. However it's 2017 now and although Lockett is back, it appears Richardson has taken over as the No. 2 receiver in Seattle. Richardson will continue to compete with Lockett for that No. 2 receiver status throughout the season, but Seattle's trade of Jermaine Kearse means that Richardson should still get plenty of targets, regardless of his official rank. His two receiving touchdowns further help his cause, as he seems to be quarterback Russell Wilson's preferred red zone option, having logged more touchdowns than both Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett.
In PPR formats, Richardson has logged between 9.5 and 11 points in all four games this season. Against a Rams Defense that has allowed 27, 39 and 30 points across the last three weeks, Richardson could be in line for a jump in those numbers Week 5, making him a valuable flex play in 12-team leagues and beyond. After a Week 6 bye, Richardson and the Seahawks face the Giants, Texans and the Redskins. Richardson should hold value as a steady performer in deeper PPR formats, with potential to improve on those numbers should Wilson continue to utilize him in the red zone.
