BALLER MOVE: Add in Two-Catcher Leagues
OWNED IN: 35% of Yahoo! Leagues
ANALYSIS: The trade that sent Alex Avila over to the Chicago Cubs has created more playing time for youngster James McCann, and he has responded with the best offensive stretch of his career. McCann is hitting .364/.402/.506 with two home runs and a steal over his last 77 at-bats. His .419 BABIP in that window is obviously unsustainable, but it is nice to see McCann drawing some walks and getting on base. He is up to a .258/.326/.445 line on the year with 11 home runs, 37 RBI and 27 runs scored. Those are respectable numbers (especially out of the catcher position) and McCann is in line for regular catcher at-bats for the rest of the season. While he won’t carry a batting average over .300 with him going forward, he has a good chance to put up a handful of home runs and RBI’s while hitting for a decent batting average and drawing some walks, which is more than enough production to justify a roster spot in deeper formats and especially in two-catcher leagues.
