ANALYSIS: Many thought that Los Angeles Angels outfielder Cameron Maybin had a fluke 2016 season with a .315 batting average in 94 games, but his 2017 season has been strong as well. While his season average is just .244, he's absolutely tearing it up over the last 14 days with a .395 average. He even chipped in his first two homers and scored 14 runs over that time span. Last year he enjoyed an absurdly high .383 BABIP, but he still has room to grow over his current .295 BABIP. Average aside, if you own Maybin it shouldn't be because you're expecting a .300 hitter. His 12 steals are a welcome addition to any fantasy roster - the increased contact is just a bonus.
Maybin has been dealing with a knee injury, but, if healthy, he could be a 30+ stolen base threat. He stole 40 bases in 2011 and has at least 23 stolen bases in each season that he has played 100 or more games. The Angels will continue to trot out Maybin and have him hit at the top of the lineup, giving him opportunities for stolen bases and runs. Maybin can help win you stolen bases at a minimum, and has been hitting well lately, making him worthy of a look in deep mixed leagues.
