Scott Schebler (OF, CIN) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 42% of Yahoo! leagues

ANALYSIS: To this point, Schebler is doing his best Adam Duvall impression. Aside from the obvious similarities as far as team and position, he's also a near-duplicate statistically to Duvall's 2016 season in which he broke out. With a week left in May, Schebler has 13 home runs, 27 runs batted in, and a .253 average. By contrast, Duvall had 13 HR, 29 RBI and a .264 average at the end of May last season. Schebler is two years younger, meaning his breakout season is one year ahead of Duvall. He also strikes out at a lower rate and has multiple double-digit steal seasons in the minors under his belt.

So why are fantasy owners reluctant to buy into Schebler, making him owned in less than half of all leagues? He doesn't have the Major League track record to fall back on, only playing part-time last season. However, much like Duvall, he isn't showing any skills that haven't already been flashed in the minors. Playing in a slugger-friendly ballpark doesn't hurt either - Great American Ball Park ranks eighth in ballpark factor for home runs this season. As a result, his .299 ISO ranks 12th in the majors, just behind teammate Joey Votto. If Schebler is still sitting on waivers in your league, unless it's a 10-teamer, he continues to show he doesn't belong there.
