BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team, NL-Only Leagues
OWNED IN: 14% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: A pair of rookies dispelled the myth last year that you can't start Rockies pitchers at Coors. This season it has been another unexpected rookie who is continuing the trend. Antonio Senzatela was a surprise addition to the rotation late in the spring, having never seen Triple-A ball, but he has been untouchable in his first three starts. He started with five scoreless innings against Milwaukee and then passed his first home test by tossing seven innings of two-run ball against the Padres. Senzatela now has a 2.37 ERA with a 14/4 K/BB rate and is looking like a solid waiver add in leagues that roster six or more starting pitchers.
His 3.59 xFIP suggests he may be in for some regression, but he has shown strong control and an ability to keep the ball in the yard (1 HR allowed). Senzatela's only fault so far is a mediocre strikeout rate, which isn't likely to jump up much. He struck out 19.7% of batters last season in Double-A and never K'd as much as a batter per inning in the minors. In this small MLB sample size, it's best to limit ownership of Senzatela to the deepest of leagues or stream him on the road just to be safe.
