Wide Receivers Waiver Wire: Week 13 Pickups & Adds

What’s up everyone! Welcome back for your Week 13 fantasy football waiver wire WR options. This week we have a number of options that have emerged, several of whom are likely available in your league and could help out your WR situation.

Below you will find some deeper waiver wire grabs heading into Week 13. Check out my entries from Week 12 as well. If players like Steve Smith Sr. or Cole Beasley are still out there, PICK THEM UP FIRST. These are deeper options who will likely be available in many leagues. If you are forced to pick between two players, find me on twitter @Ben_Ruppert_21, and I will be more than happy to help you out!

Now, let’s get rolling.

Editor's Note: Once you're done here, be sure to read about even more Week 13 waiver wire recommendations, for all fantasy-relevant positions. Just click on any link: ALL - RB - WR - TE - QB - DEF - FAAB - CUTS

Week 13 Waiver Wire - Wide Receivers (WR)

The Shallow End (Under 50% Owned)

Anquan Boldin, WR, DET- 45% Owned on Fleaflicker

Anquan Boldin certainly did all he could to help the Lions celebrate on Thanksgiving Day. Boldin caught 7-of-9 targets for 69 yards (a season high) and a short TD to open up the scoring. This was Boldin’s second straight game with nine targets, and the seven catches were his most since Week 6, when he caught eight for 60 yards and a score. Since the bye week, Boldin leads the team with 18 targets, more than Golden Tate (11), Marvin Jones (13) and Theo Riddick (15). He is third on the team overall this season.

He may not be one of the more interesting names on the list, but Boldin has continued to be a productive WR, even in his age-36 season. He has touchdowns in four of his past six games, and next week gets a dream matchup against the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome. Matthew Stafford will need to pass a ton to keep up with Drew Brees at home, meaning Boldin has a good chance to see nine targets for the third straight game. If you’re looking for someone to fill in this week for Terrelle Pryor or Rishard Matthews, Boldin is a good option.

Tyler Boyd, WR, CIN- 43% Owned on Fleaflicker

Without Giovani Bernard and A.J. Green, the Bengals' offense looked a bit different on Sunday. Jeremy Hill set career highs with six catches on six targets, and Tyler Eifert led the way with 11 targets on the day. Eifert will likely benefit the most from the injury to Green. Boyd and Brandon LaFell each had nine targets on the day, but Boyd was the more efficient receiver. Though he was out-snapped by LaFell 67-to-55, Boyd ended the day with five receptions for 62 yards, compared to LaFell’s three receptions for 38 yards.

Especially in PPR formats, until Green returns Boyd is the WR you want to own. He has a 64.4% catch percentage compared to LaFell’s 56.3%. Also, for the talk of LaFell being a better deep threat, his average catch is only two yards longer than Boyd’s is this season, 12.7 to 10.8. Over the past four weeks, he has out-targeted LaFell 28-to-22. If Boyd is still floating around on your waiver wire, he should be added and can be used until Green returns-- if he returns this season.

Tyreek Hill, WR, KC- 35% Owned on Fleaflicker

Tyreek Hill has been on this list for a number of weeks, graduating from the under-15% owned list and now seeing himself rise to this side of the list. He has been leading the Chiefs' receiving corps for the past several weeks now, but this week he had by far the finest game of his early career. Hill not only caught 9-of-10 targets for 52 yards with a game-tying TD in the final seconds of the game, he also rushed once for a three-yard score and returned a safety kick 86 yards for a TD. His explosion in this game helped the Chiefs pull off the win in overtime, 30-27.

Hill’s presence has been huge for Kansas City's offense this season, with Jeremy Maclin basically non-existent and Jamaal Charles never returning to full health. He and Travis Kelce have been the only consistent members of the passing game, and Hill didn’t play a major role until Week 8. Since then, he is second on the team with 39 targets, eight fewer than Kelce’s 47. Even when Maclin returns from injury, I would expect Hill to maintain a prominent role in this offense given how he has excelled over the past several weeks.

Ted Ginn, WR, CAR- 20% Owned on Fleaflicker

The most surprising player to bring down double-digit touchdowns last season is beginning to produce like that player again this season. Through 10 weeks, Ginn had no touchdowns, with only one game of more than 60 receiving yards. Over the past two games, however, he has scored twice and eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the first time all season in the loss to Oakland. He finished this week catching four of his team-leading 10 targets for 115 yards and a TD.

Since Carolina's bye in Week 7, Ginn leads the team in targets with 35-- one more than Kelvin Benjamin (34) and five more than stud TE Greg Olsen (30). He has had no fewer than three receptions with 40 yards receiving in any game over that span, giving him a decent floor and an upside of what we saw this past week. If there’s one player who can use their breakaway speed at any point to get a long score, it’s Ginn. He is an interesting add over the final stretch of the season.

More Options: Pierre Garcon, WAS (48% owned), Quincy Enunwa, NYJ (37%), Chris Hogan, NE (37%), Ty Montgomery, GB (35%), Brandon LaFell, CIN (35%), Tajae Sharpe, TEN (34%), Cameron Meredith, CHI (29%), Kenny Stills, MIA (27%), Robert Woods, BUF (25%), Adam Thielen, MIN (22%), Marqise Lee, JAX (18%)

The Deep End (Under 15% Owned)

Malcolm Mitchell, WR, NE- 11% Owned on Fleaflicker

Tom Brady and Malcolm Mitchell seem to be getting more accustomed to each other as the weeks go on. Last week, Mitchell seemingly came out of nowhere to score the first touchdown of his career, and followed up that performance in a big way this week. He caught 5-of-7 targets for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Last week he scored from 56 yards out, and this week both of his touchdowns came in the red zone-- from four and eight yards away. Red zone threats Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett both played this game hobbled (Gronk left early with a back issue), so don’t expect the red zone looks to continue once those guys return at full health. The Patriots offense if difficult to predict, but once Brady finds a target he likes, that player could see a huge value boost. Mitchell is worth a speculative add to see if the volume of targets continues.

Taylor Gabriel, WR, ATL- 10% Owned on Fleaflicker

Surprisingly, Taylor Gabriel led the Falcons in receiving on Sunday against the Cardinals' stout passing defense. He caught 4-of-5 targets for 75 yards and two touchdowns, also adding in one rush for 27 yards. Gabriel has only seen an average of three touches per game this season, but has made them count with some huge plays-- he has gains of at least 25 yards in each of the past four weeks, with five touchdowns over that span. Gabriel doesn’t get enough touches to warrant being a safe start every week, but when someone is playing as well as he has played, he is worth an add to see if he can earn more looks.

Jermaine Kearse, WR, SEA- 9% Owned on Fleaflicker

Along with most of the Seahawks offense, Kearse didn’t do much this week to warrant an immediate pickup. He caught just one of his five targets for 18 yards as Seattle lost a tough one to the Buccaneers, 14-to-5. Doug Baldwin and Jimmy Graham led the way in receiving yards and targets, with Kearse and Tyler Lockett behind them. Lockett, whose ownership sits at 54%, was unable to secure any of his six targets on the day. Kearse has more targets over the past five weeks (29-to-21) with 11 receptions for 166 yards, compared to Lockett’s 10 receptions for 160 yards. If these two players are producing similarly, then Kearse needs to be more highly owned.

Marquess Wilson, WR, CHI- 3% Owned on Fleaflicker

Well, I’m sure this is one performance no one saw coming this week. With Jay Cutler out, Matt Barkley led the Bears' passing attack, with Wilson being the immediate benefactor. He caught eight of his team-leading 11 targets for 125 yards and a late TD. Barkley threw the ball 54 times on Sunday, providing four Bears receivers with at least nine targets. Neither of those numbers will happen again the rest of the season, but if Barkley remains the starting QB for a few games, Wilson could see his targets hover around seven or eight per game. In deep leagues he is worth a bench stash if you have some free space.

More Options: Cordarrelle Patterson, MIN (14% owned), Adam Humphries, TB (11%), Dontrelle Inman, SD (10%), Seth Roberts, OAK (9%), Chris Conley, KC (9%), Marquise Goodwin, BUF (7%), Brandon Coleman, NO (5%), Russell Shepard, TB (3%), Justin Hunter, BUF (3%)
