ANALYSIS: All Smallwood did in Week 3 was rush for 79 yards and a score on 17 carries against the Steelers, which prompted lots of buzz heading into Philly’s bye week. This culminated in an ESPN report from Tim McManus that said Smallwood should see “plenty of opportunities”, though he’d still be the complementary back to Ryan Mathews with Darren Sproles also mixing in on passing downs. Still, Mathews isn’t the most durable fellow and Smallwood makes for a nice stash.
