ANALYSIS: The Philadelphia Eagles are off to a surprising 3-0 start after yesterday's trouncing of a good Pittsburgh Steelers club. A big part of their offense yesterday included rookie running back Wendell Smallwood. With fellow teammate Ryan Mathews nursing a sore ankle, Smallwood took advantage with a 17 carry for 79 yards and one touchdown performance. He also averaged a solid 4.6 yards per carry. The Eagles happen to be coming up with a Bye in Week 4 which should give a decent chance for Mathews ailing ankle to rest. However, Mathews has been known to be injury prone his entire career, and if Wendell can continue to impress he might really become a nice part of the Eagles offense in the coming weeks and maybe beyond. For those looking for some potential running back help, it might be a decent idea to start right here.
