ANALYSIS: Holster any extreme excitement on this 4th year tight end from Western Kentucky. However, tight end Jack Doyle did receive a couple of red zone targets which he hauled in for two touchdowns this past Sunday in the first game of the season. Overall, Doyle caught three passes for 35 yards and two touchdowns on four targets. Doyle equaled his career high in touchdowns (2) for one season in only one game this year and only has 38 career receptions including last week. If you are looking for a big "however" here it comes. Doyle was on the field for almost 40 snaps this past game which is a fair amount. Gun-slinging quarterback Andrew Luck did find him in the end zone twice, and the Colts have a history of running a two tight end set which last year featured Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen. Remember that last year Allen was the second tight end in the group and was a touchdown specialist. Perhaps Mr. Doyle will be filling that role this year. If you're going to pick him up, keep him on your bench behind your number one tight end. This early season acquisition could count for a deeper bench and bye week/injury help if you need to plug him in.
