It's September 2nd, and there are several scenarios in the news involving Tropical Storm/Hurrican Hermine. One of them could have some heavy rains and winds but nothing too bad whereas others could be the Harbinger of Doom for many areas. The same could be said of your fantasy leagues now.
Gary Sanchez is a hurricane in the baseball world - he's got 84% ownership. He could help carry those who picked him up. Then again, if he cools down to Tropical Storm-levels, he could wreck some playoff hopes. Eh. This whole Hurricane/Tropical Storm comparison worked out better in my head when I first thought of it. In any event, we'll be your life raft that gets you through each week. Grab on. As always, our cutoff is having sub-70% ownership in Fleaflicker.

Week 22 Waiver Wire Catchers
Brian McCann (NYY) 69% - Yup. McCann slipped under the 70% wire here. Surprising. Actually, it's not that surprising, seeing as there are only seven catchers over the threshold right now. Yeah. It shows you how desperate people have been that Sanchez has been snapped up at this rate. It's not like McCann has been that bad comparatively. He's got 16 dingers, which is up there with the others. He's also been pretty hot of late, coming off a 3-for-5 game on Aug. 31. The Yankees have upcoming series against the Orioles, Blue Jays, and Orioles again. Two of them are at Yankee Stadium, where he could take aim at the right field seats. Let's get him back up above 70%.
Evan Gattis (HOU) 68% - Gattis now leads all eligible catchers with 22 homers. Yet more than 30% of fantasy owners are letting him linger on the waiver wire. Not to go all Jerry Seinfeld on you, but what's up with that? He's also got four homers over his past 10 games. If he goes on a tear in the next week in upcoming series against Texas, Cleveland, and the Cubs, he could help you a lot. Grab him.
Yadier Molina (STL) 67% - Yadi's had 13 hits in his past 10 games. He even homered twice in August. Still under 70%. It's not like catchers are lighting it up this year. Two catchers... TWO... of them are over .300 now. Molina's also in the middle of the pack among backstops in runs. The Cardinals have series against the Reds, Pirates, and Brewers coming up. You know what that means? He's going to be amped to do damage against division rivals. You need Yadi now.
Yasmani Grandal (LAD) 55% - People look at Grandal's numbers and stop at batting average. Wrong move. He's been one of the best sources of power at the catcher position, trailing only Gattis in homers. You'd love to have someone who hit six homers in August alone, right? If you're looking for power at the No. 2 catcher slot, you could do a lot worse. The Dodgers have games coming up against the Padres and the Diamondbacks, so he could have a REALLY good week. Take a chance.
Welington Castillo (ARI) 56% - Castillo hasn't been hitting homers, but he's been an absolute RBI machine. Over the last 13 games of August, he drove in 20 runs. There were two 3-RBI games and one 4-RBI game. The D-backs have series coming up against the Rockies, Dodgers, and the Giants. He could drive in a lot more runs in that span. This could greatly pad your No. 2 catcher stats. Pick him up.
Willson Contreras (CHC) 55% - Not content to be totally upstaged by that other catcher with the initials "WC," Contreras has been showing some pop the past few days. He hit two homers over the course of five games at the end of August. The Cubs backstop also has collected a hit in seven of his last 10 games. You'd love to have a No. 2 catcher with some pop, wouldn't you? The Cubs are going to play the Giants, Brewers, and Astros over the next week. Those could be favorable matchups for him. Consider grabbing Contreras.
