Alex Bregman (3B/SS, HOU) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in all leagues

OWNED IN: 43% of Fleaflicker leagues

ANALYSIS: Wow, what a relief. After 77 AB in the MLB after just 586 minor league AB, we were all beginning to think that Alex Bregman wasn't going to be a superstar from the very start of his big league career. First off, Bregman tore through the minors at a devastating pace and improved at every level. He had a .698 OPS at the Single-A level, then .839 at A+ Lancaster, then .970 at Double-A Corpus Christi, and finished off his minor league run with a 1.014 OPS at Triple-A Fresno. That all happened in a mere 586 AB since 2015. Bregman stole a nice volume of bases at 20 through all levels, hit 24 HR, had an extra base hit rate of 9.8%, and walked more often than he struck out with a BB% of 11.1% and a K% of just 10%. Bregman started off his MLB career with an ugly OPS of .170 to finish out July, but since then he has found his stroke yet again. In his last 12 games started he took 53 AB and has hit four HR, has a .321 BA, and although he is striking out more often at 24%, he has an XBH rate of 13.8% in that time span. The fact is, Bregman is a fast learner. He has been a dominant presence everywhere he goes. With his plate discipline, ability to hit for contact and power, and ability to steal bases in volume, Bregman is of great value to fantasy baseball managers looking towards the playoffs.
