BALLER MOVE: Target ~100
CURRENT ADP: 110.5
ANALYSIS: According to FantasyFootballCalculator.com ADP, Romo is being taken off the board in the 10th round, making him the 13th QB off the board. However, his draft-day value trumps that of Eli Manning, Andy Dalton and Matt Ryan.
The Cowboys boast an elite offensive line, a top-five draft pick in running back Ezekiel Elliott, and a big-time play-maker in Dez Bryant and a favorable 2016 schedule. Kellen Moore and 2016 fourth-rounder Dak Prescott — who has impressed in preseason play — will sit behind Romo on the depth chart, but only an injury would allow either of them to see the field.
Romo is widely viewed as injury-prone, but prior to 2015, he had only missed two games over the previous four seasons. The collarbone injury he suffered last season is a repeat of his injury from 2010, but he had part of the clavicle bone shaved off in surgery this off-season, likely preventing another recurrence.
In 2014, Romo led the league in passer rating (113.2) and completion percentage (69.9%), and collected 34 passing touchdowns and 3,705 yards through the air. He was the 11th-ranked QB, and could very well repeat those numbers in 2016. Fantasy owners who play the waiting game shouldn’t be afraid to pull the trigger on Romo as a QB1.
