ANALYSIS: Though the trade deadline left the Oakland A's with some highly touted prospect pitchers, Sean Manaea has found plenty of spotlight for himself. Initially important detail about Manaea: He really seems to prefer pitching at home. In 70.1 IP this year in Oakland he has a 3.45 ERA and 1.17 WHIP as compared to his away ERA of 6.98 and WHIP of 1.55 in 40 IP. After a poor April and May with a 7.03 ERA and 1.56 WHIP, Manaea went strong in his 54.2 IP through June and July. He had a 3.13 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 8.9 K/9, and lowered his BB/9 from 2.81 in the first two months to 1.65. In August he has had two shaky outings at 11.2 IP and nine ER, and two quality starts at 12 combined innings with five ER. He has also displayed some solid durability lately, as he has averaged 6.30 IP per start. With how few batters he walks, his durability, and his solid improvement this season, adding Sean Manaea is a good idea moving into the fantasy baseball playoffs.
