We're now in Week 20 of the season. This also means that most leagues have passed the trade deadline. It's definitely starting to get late early now. So... if you didn't emulate the Texas Rangers and make a bunch of trades trying to solidify a postseason run, then you might be hoping to grab some help off the waiver wire.
There are some people at catcher who can help some but there are no real miracle workers out there. Let's go out there and look for the best we can do something with, shall we? Our cutoff, as always, is sub-70% ownership in Fleaflicker leagues.

Week 20 Waiver Wire Catchers
Evan Gattis (HOU) 63% - Yes, aside from a game on Aug. 11 where he hit his first homer this month, Gattis has been quiet. Like a dormant volcano, though, he's a threat to erupt any day. Do you want to have him on his roster when he goes all Mount Vesuvius or will you be buried under the lava of all his homers like the people who lived in Pompeii and Herculaneum? Yeah, bet you never thought you would see ancient history in a column like this. That's how I roll, though. Educating as well as entertaining.
Matt Wieters (BAL) 61% - He may only have one homer this month, but he is hitting a fairly decent .277. Wieters also had a 5-for-5 game on Aug. 14, so he's heating up some. If he stays like this he could move up to the 70% level. Added incentive - Baltimore is in a fight to win the American League East crown and the catcher could really benefit if the rest of his lineup heats up.
Willson Contreras (CHC) 60% - Contreras continues to hit at a fairly good clip with a .289 mark so far in in August. He's also got two homers and his early success has to be making the Cubs wonder what the situation will be like next year when Kyle Schwarber returns from his injury.
Yasmani Grandal (LAD) 59% - Grandal continues being good for one thing - hitting homers. He's still second behind Jonathan Lucroy with 19 homers. He also has half as many hits as the Brewers.. er... Rangers backstop. You need power with a No. 2 catcher; he fits the bill. Grab him - more and more people are.
Welington Castillo (ARI) 52% - Castillo did miss seven games this month, but it was for a good reason: paternity leave. Let's not pull a Mike Francesca and instead applaud his priorities even if he did put his owners in a bit of a bind for a few days. Castillo has hit well since his return, going 4-for-5 his first game back. If he keeps doing that, he can be a heck of a No. 2 catcher. Grab the proud papa.
Gary Sanchez (NYY) 38% - I know it's a little early to anoint "The Kraken" on here in place of someone like Sandy Leon, but this guy is fun to watch. If he keeps this up he may force the Yankees to think about trading Brian McCann in the off-season. For all we know he might turn out to be the next Kevin Maas but he can supply power and that's really helpful for a No. 2 catcher.
