ANALYSIS: I bet the Chicago Cubs are pretty happy they didn't trade Jorge Soler to the Yankees right about now. In just 119 AB through April and May, he had a BA of just .202, five HR, and OPS figures of .610 and .713. He has still had very limited AB since then, but Soler looks to have turned his season around in 33 August AB. He has a slash line of .333/.389/.727, has hit four HR, and five XBH. After an XBH% of just 6.5% with a 25% strikeout rate in the first two months, the 24-year old highly touted talent has been hitting for extra bases at a 13.9% clip this month while striking out 5.6% less frequently. Soler has still taken just 618 AB in three MLB seasons, and has only been able to provide a glimpse of what he can do. However with a 1.097 OPS in two seasons at Double-A and a .906 OPS in three seasons at Triple-A, we know the Cuba native can compete at a high level in the high levels. After a couple of rough months, it looks like Soler has finely tuned his power approach nicely.
