Analysis: Ten starts into his first MLB campaign, and Jameson Taillon has acclimatized just fine. The 24-year old highly touted prospect has shined on the mound as a starter for the Pittsburgh Pirates and has demonstrated maturity beyond his years. He has a 2.85 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP. He has shown solid durability by pitching 60 IP and therefore averaging 6.0 IP per start; and even though he isn't a high-volume strikeout pitcher at 7.1 K/9, he has displayed fantastic command by allowing just 1.2 BB/9. At Triple-A Indianapolis this season Taillon has averaged 6.2 IP per start in ten starts, with a 2.04 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, just 0.3 HR/9, 0.9 BB/9, and an encouraging 8.9 K/9. That is a pretty solid bounce back for a guy who hasn't pitched since 2013, and it makes sense why he has been a top 100 prospect since 2011. Now that he is making big league starts, his superior command makes him a great option every start.
