BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 49 percent of Fleaflicker leagues
ANALYSIS: Command/finesse pitchers often have a difficult adjustment period when they first ascend to the major leagues. It appears nobody bothered to tell Joe Musgrove that. The Astros' newest young gun has been spectacular in two appearances (one start), allowing just one run in 11 1/3 innings while striking out 14. Originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the supplemental round of the 2011 draft, Musgrove was part of the return on the trade that sent J.A. Happ to Toronto. Musgrove's next start will be on the road against those very same Jays, though (unfortunately for the narrative convenience of this post) he'll be opposed by Francisco Liriano rather than Happ. That's obviously a tough matchup, but Musgrove is worth a roster spot all the same. If you'd prefer to wait it out, a rough outing might lead to a number of impatient owners dropping him, allowing you to scoop him up and reap the benefits against lesser opponents.
