Analysis: Remember when the Nationals were saying that they were in no rush to use Trea Turner and that they weren't going to play him that much? Those days are gone. Coming into 2016 the 23-year old product of North Carolina State was ranked as the #9 overall prospect in the MLB according to Baseball America and he backed that ranking up in Triple-A Syracuse this year. He produced a .302/.370/.471 slash line, hit six HR, produced an XBH percentage of 9.7%, and stole 25 bases in just 27 attempts for a success rate of 93%. In his 66 AB with the Nationals Turner has a .842 OPS, an XBH rate of 10%, and has stolen eight bases without being caught. Turner has improved his power tremendously, is still hitting with discipline and for contact, and is a base-stealing machine. He is a top-ten prospect for a reason, and he is proving it every day.
