Analysis: Three long balls in one game should grab everyone's attention if they weren't already eyeing Max Kepler in the Twins outfield. The 23-year old native of Berlin, Germany was ranked as the #30 overall prospect by Baseball America and he has backed up that confidence with his bat in 2016. In 203 AB this season Kepler has a .879 OPS, 14 HR, a walk rate of 10%, and an XBH rate of 12.6%. His isolated power of .291 is awe-inspiring, and he has even been the victim of some bad luck with a BABIP of just .264. Kepler has steadily improved through the year. He had a .619 OPS in April, a .771 OPS in June, an .898 OPS in July, and as we discussed he jacked three homers on the first night of August. His power has always been legitimate, and while he has trouble with LHP who have held him to a .675 OPS, he has been knocking everything to the moon, so be willing to look past the platoon disadvantage.
