Analysis: Wade Davis was just placed on the 15-day DL, which means there is a temporary opening in the 9th inning for the Kansas City Royals, and it is likely to be filled by Kelvin Herrera. Despite accumulating zero saves in the last three seasons, Herrera has been one of the best relievers in baseball since 2014. This season he has thrown 38.2 innings and has produced a 1.40 ERA with a 0.853 WHIP. His HR/9 sits at 0.5 and he has given up just seven home runs in 178.1 IP since 2014. His K/9 has increased every year for the last three years going from 7.6, to 8.3, to his phenomenal rate of 11.4 this season. His only issue has been walks with BB/9 numbers of 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4 consecutively since 2013, but he has even repaired that part of his game with just seven walks in 2016 at a BB/9 clip of 1.6. Kelvin Herrera is one of the best relievers in baseball, and with Wade Davis on the DL, it is Herrera's time to shine.
