Analysis: The Cleveland Indians have been scorching hot in 2016, in big thanks to the timeless production from 35-year old Rajai Davis. Davis leads the American League in steals by grabbing 22 bags in just 25 attempts for a success rate of 88% and his work at the plate has been all-around solid with a .271/.332/.446 slash line. His plate discipline has been much better as his walk percentage of 7.4% is his highest mark since 2007.
The big surprise for Davis has been the power he's packing at his age, seemingly for the first time. He already has nine home runs, and in his career since 2006, he has never hit more than eight in a season until now. His isolated power figure of .174 combined with his soft hit ball rate dropping 7.1% in the last two years gives a good indication of how this is possible. Davis has always been an elite base runner who steals with volume and efficiency. Now that he has regained a nice BA and is hitting for power out of the blue, he has made himself an incredibly valuable roster acquisition.
