BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 28% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Zach Davies has been one of the hottest pitchers around since June started. The 23 year-old has shown what he is capable of by keeping the Cardinals and Mets without an earned run over eight and six innings respectively. He also held the Athletics to two runs over seven innings, and has allowed a total of eight hits in the last 21 innings. All told, Davies has an 1.38 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 8.3 K/9 over the last two weeks. While this can certainly help fantasy owners in all leagues, there are still some warning signs to pay attention to. All three of the aforementioned starts came at home, but Davies has a pronounced home/road split. In three starts on the road this season, Davies has allowed 12 R in 12 IP. By contrast, his home ERA is 2.88 and his strikeout rate is nearly double. As a young pitcher, there will always be bumps in the road, but wise owners may want to pay attention to the schedule before starting him regularly. Although the Brewers figure to be sellers near the deadline, dynasty owners should value Davies a bit higher since his long-term future should be very bright.
