ANALYSIS: Any player with four position eligibility has the attention of many fantasy owners right away. With a fresh every day opportunity to play for the Cleveland Indians and regular production within the lineup, Jose Ramirez may be blossoming into a true fantasy contributor.
Ramirez has more BB than K on the season and has been a fantasy owner's dream contributing across the board. He has 3 HR, 5 SB, 20 RBI and 26 R on the season while having a .325 BA, .395 OBP, .345 BABIP and a .867 OPS. The troubling part is that Ramirez's main competition for playing time has been Juan Uribe who has a paltry .241 BA with truly not much to offer at 37-years-old. Why hasn't Ramirez taken the reigns of a 3B job that is clearly for the taking? I'm pretty confused about it myself but the results should make the decision pretty easy. His defense is not the issue and his hot bat should keep the Indians penciling him in game in and game out.
The Indians are winning and Ramirez is playing well so in theory this will continue to trend as long as he keeps hitting. His career averages suggest some serious regression is coming but for now not many owners can pass on using him all over the field as the Indians do. Owners are always looking for cheap power and speed and Ramirez provides both while hitting in the middle of the improving Indians' lineup.
