Welcome to June everyone. We have a full slate today with all 30 teams in action. Games start at 1:10 ET so keep that in mind when constructing lineups. Plenty of aces on tap, including Jacob deGrom, Jon Lester, and Felix Hernandez. But there's value available, which I'll highlight below.
In this article, I’ll be providing you with the top starting pitcher streamers for daily fantasy baseball (DFS) and for seasonal leagues for 6/1/16. These picks will range from high-priced / high-ownership options to low-priced / low-ownership options, and will be sleepers and value picks for your cash games and GPPs on DraftKings and FanDuel, and also for seasonal leagues with daily lineups.
There'll be three main sections of this article: our Pitcher Matchups Tool’s top plays, my value plays, and pitchers to fade. I highly recommend you check out the Daily Pitcher Matchups Ratings tool - it's an extremely useful tool for daily fantasy or seasonal streaming for finding the diamonds in the rough. Anyways, let's get cracking!
Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays
Max Scherzer (SP, WAS) at Phillies
Mad Max is coming off a rough outing (7 IP, 5 ER) vs St. Louis, but keep in mind four of those came off one pitch. He has owned the Phillies, going 4-0 with a 1.88 ERA since 2015.
Jaime Garcia (SP, STL) at Brewers
Garcia looked strong in his last outing and the Brewers have a .239 average vs LHP (23rd) and have struck out 126 times, sixth most in baseball. Solid tourney play in early games as opponents nab...
Jacob deGrom (SP, NYM) vs White Sox
deGrom is the high ticket item for early-games. He's coming off a stellar performance versus the Dodgers (7 IP, 3 H, ER). The White Sox have a .688 OPS vs RHP (25th) and have struck out 323 times to righties (10th in MLB). He's a heavy favorite and a solid cash play.
Max’s Value Plays of the Day
Michael Fulmer (SP, DET) at Angels
Fulmer has looked to be a good return for the Tigers in the Yoenis Cespedes trade. He was hitting 97 mph in the seventh inning of his last start and has a favorable matchup here. The Angels have struggled versus RHP this year, and while they don't strike out often, Fulmer should have a great chance at a win here.
Robbie Ray (SP, ARI) at Astros
Ray has been Jekyll and Hyde in 2016. 6.93 ERA at home, 2.63 ERA on the road. It's a dangerous matchup versus a hot George Springer, but the Astros strike out a ton collectively and Mike Fiers can be beat. It's a tourney-only play and a stream option in seasonal formats.
Pat Dean (SP, MIN) at Athletics
Convict me of recency bias, but I liked what I saw from Dean versus Toronto his last time out. The Athletics struggle versus LHP, posting a .667 OPS (sixth-worst in baseball). Again, a pure tourney/seasonal play.
Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball
Masahiro Tanaka (SP, NYY) at Blue Jays
The Blue Jays have 55 HR versus RHP, fifth most in baseball. Game theory says the Blue Jays/Yankees can only play so many low-scoring ball games. Look for the Jays to strike today.
Danny Duffy (SP, KC) at Rays
Duffy has not been going deep as the Royals scale him up and the Rays have a .809 OPS versus LHP, best in baseball.
