BALLER MOVE: Add in AL-Only Leagues
OWNED IN: 7% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Los Angeles Angels have been nothing short of a disaster in 2016 in the early-going and most of that falls on the injury plagued pitching staff that has engulfed them. In search of any possible answer, the Angels might have found a real sleeper lying in their farm system that found his way onto their roster. Enter Nick Tropeano, who is making fantasy waves across the land!
Tropeano's numbers should not "wow" anyone and they even show that regression might be coming. But for now, Tropeano is up near nine K/9 and has an impressive 89.7 LOB% that has greatly aided him in his starts this season. The 3.30 ERA is very serviceable, but the 4.79 FIP is a major concern as it is currently at the highest level of his short career.
Tropeano's BB/9 should come down as a few rough starts have inflated those numbers. He has also had trouble going deep into games with poor run support, much like all Angels starters this season. He is only 25 years old and this is his first full major league season, so bumps in the road are to be expected. For now, Tropeano is meant for deep and AL-Only leagues looking for upside. But as he keeps toeing the rubber every fifth day look for Tropeano to become more poised and comfortable. Teams that are rostering a slot for streaming pitchers could find use for Tropeano. Dynasty owners may consider taking a chance on Tropeano's upside as well.
