Happy Friday everyone. We have a full slate on deck including one early game (Pirates-Cubs). There's only one pitcher priced above $10,000 on either site (Chris Sale) which means there will be tons of low-owned value plays to be found. The highlights include Lance McCullers making his season debut, Matt Harvey travelling to Coors, and Tom Koehler will try to not give up another home run to Bryce Harper.
In this article, I’ll be providing you with the top starting pitcher streamers for daily fantasy baseball (DFS) and for seasonal leagues for 5/13/16. These streamers will range from high-priced / high-ownership options to low-priced / low-ownership options, and will be sleepers and value picks for your cash games and GPPs on DraftKings and FanDuel, and also for seasonal leagues with daily lineups.
There'll be three main sections of this article: our Pitcher Matchups Tool’s top plays, my value plays, and pitchers to fade. I highly recommend you check out the Daily Pitcher Matchups Ratings tool - it's an extremely useful tool for daily fantasy or seasonal streaming for finding the diamonds in the rough. Anyways, let's get cracking!
Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays
FanDuel - $8,700 / DraftKings - $9,700
Hill has a 11.0 K/9 in seven starts with the A's, but keep in mind the Rays have been a top five offense versus LHP. Personally I'd shy away from Hill and grab one of my value plays below.
Chris Sale (SP, CWS) at Yankees
FanDuel - $12,000 / DraftKings - $12,300
The best pitcher on the board, Sale has won all seven of his starts with a sparkling 1.79 ERA. Aside from Carlos Beltran and Chase Headley, Sale has held the Yankees in check. Throw in a struggling Severino and Sale should pick up win number eight tonight.
Max’s Value Plays of the Day
Josh Tomlin (SP, CLE) vs Twins
FanDuel - $8,400 / DraftKings - $7,500
A personal favorite of mine, Tomlin's strength lies in limiting walks; he had a 1.3 BB/9 rate at home last season. The Twins strike out 22.4% of the time versus right-handed pitching, third worst in baseball.
Gio Gonzalez (SP, WAS) vs Marlins
FanDuel - $8,900 / DraftKings - $8,100
Gio was cruising through 2016 till a date with the Cubs on Saturday (5.2 IP, 5 ER). Don't let that scare you; the Marlins are one of the worst teams versus left-handed pitchers, posting a league worst .235 average against them.
Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball
Matt Harvey (SP, NYM) at Rockies
FanDuel - $8,600 / DraftKings - $7,400
Don't get cute, especially in cash formats. Harvey has been erratic to begin 2016 and gets a date in Coors, the most offensive-friendly park in baseball. I see the value in tourney entries because he should pick up the win, but there are better uses of your funds.
Lance McCullers (SP, HOU) at Red Sox
FanDuel - $8,300 / DraftKings - $6,900
I'm a big McCullers fan and he was excellent in his last rehab outing (5 IP, 0 ER, 7 K). That said, the Red Sox are the hottest offense in baseball and crush righties. I'm not convinced he makes it six innings either as the Astros are likely to ease him back in. Let someone else kick the tires here.
