You don't need an expert to tell you to play Charlie Blackmon tonight against Rubby De La Rosa. It is much more difficult, however, to sift through the cheap DFS options for the right value plays that can help you fit in the studs you want and put your lineup over the top.
That is the purpose of this article -- to provide you with the best value hitters available each day.
Today I'll be bringing you seven value hitters for MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball on FanDuel and DraftKings for May 10th, 2016. Let's get started!
DFS Hitters - Lineup Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings
1. Gregory Polanco, OF, Pittsburgh Pirates
FanDuel Price: $3,400, DraftKings Price: $4,900
We're going back to the well with Polanco. He disappointed yesterday, but he has an even better matchup tonight against righty Alfredo Simon. Simon has been horrendous this season, with an ERA over nine.
Polanco crushes righties, and he should be a large part of Pittsburgh reaching their lofty 4.7 implied run total. He's still far too cheap on FanDuel, and you may be able to get him at lower ownership due to some recency bias.
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red Sox
FanDuel Price: $3,400, DraftKings Price: $4,400
After dealing with injuries last year, Pedroia is enjoying a renaissance season in 2016, highlighted by a career-high .485 slugging percentage.
Pedroia and the Red Sox are projected to hang 4.9 runs on rookie Sean Manaea today, which is the highest implied total not coming from the Coors game.
Pedroia specifically lines up well against Manaea, as the diminutive second baseman has abused left-handed pitching throughout his career. He is too cheap considering his matchup, and he may see lower ownership too with other cheap second base options available.
3. Brett Gardner, OF, New York Yankees
FanDuel Price: $3,200; DraftKings Price: $4,100
Gardner has hit home runs in back to back games, and has been a big part of New York's offense beginning to wake up. He has another advantageous matchup tonight, against right-hander Kris Medlen. Medlen has a 6.85 ERA this season and has given up seven-plus runs in two of his past three starts.
Gardner hits right-handed pitching considerably better and will be hitting near the top of the order for New York. He not only comes at a nice value, but will be underowned with everyone focused on outfielders from the Coors game.
4. Derek Dietrich, 2B/3B, Miami Marlins
FanDuel Price: $2,800, DraftKings Price: $3,300
Since Dee Gordon got suspended, Dietrich has hit safely in seven of eight starts and averaged 13.7 FanDuel points per game. He likely will again be hitting leadoff today, as the Marlins draw another matchup against a weak right-hander, in the form of Zach Davies.
Dietrich, a lefty, has hit much better against righties throughout his career. With Miami projected to score 4.6 runs, he is again an excellent value play and a core cash game consideration.
5. Stephen Vogt, C, Oakland Athletics
FanDuel Price: $2,600, DraftKings Price: $3,600
Vogt should be hitting in the middle of the order for the A's against a susceptible right-handed pitcher, but be sure to check the lineup before game-time.
Vogt has seen vast improvement in his numbers against right-handers throughout his career, and he should have no problem against Sean O'Sullivan today. With most daily fantasy players likely to fall on Wellington Castillo at catcher today, Vogt comes in as a nice contrarian value play.
