ANALYSIS: On the disabled list since the year began, Devon Travis is working his way back by playing in extended spring training. There is not a clear timeline for him to return, but he should surely be a part of Toronto's loaded offense before the All-Star break. Being surrounded by sluggers Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion is reason enough to take a chance on Travis.
His rookie numbers show great on-base potential to boot. In 217 AB last season, Travis slashed .304/.361/.498 with eight home runs. His minor league history suggests a modest power/speed combo, so a 15/15 split seems to be a reasonable ceiling. His .318 AVG and .384 OBP in the minors are the most promising, however, and promises great run-scoring potential. Now may be the time to stash Travis, especially if you have an open DL spot on your roster.
