Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for 4/6/16 of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.
There's just a few days left in the season and today's a weird one. Just three games, so the pickings are slim.
Wednesday Night Rivalry is finally giving us some high stakes rivalry with the Red Wings facing the Flyers. A playoff spot could be on the line with the way the Bruins are sliding down the standings.
The other games are tire fires with a nice storyline about Rexall Place thrown in. Let's get into it.

NHL DFS Picks for 4/6/16
A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.
For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.
Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.
Connor McDavid - Center, Oilers ($7,100 - DraftKings)
How do you not go with McDavid tonight? It's the final night in Rexall Place. There's going to be 150 Oilers alumni in attendance, including the royalty of their dynasty era. Go with the emotional play. If you've listened to McDavid talk about the final night at Rexall after having one of the games great dynasties play there, he understands that going out with a W means a lot. For a player like him, that could mean a big night, even if the Canucks are on a weird tear right now.
Brayden Schenn - Wing, Flyers ($5,800 - DraftKings)
His cost has certainly long since caught up with his production, but he's a great top wing option with six guys still costing more than him on a thin slate. He's been on fire the second half of the season and he didn't post a point in his last game. The last time he went two straight games without a point? February 7 and 9. In the 26 games since then, he has at least a point in 18 of those games and a total of 11 goals and 27 points.
Radko Gudas - Defense, Flyers ($4,600 - DraftKings)
On a three-game night it may be worth loading up on the best offensive talent and looking for some depth value on the blue line. Gudas may be your man. There's been some offensive production, but he's gone five games without a point, so we shouldn't pretend like that's why you'd be grabbing him. Injuries have made it so that Gudas is basically a lock for big minutes. Over the last 10 games, he's averaged 2.4 shots per game, 3.6 hits per game and 2.8 blocked shots per game.
Morgan Rielly - Defense, Maple Leafs ($5,000 - Draft Kings)
Rielly isn't an elite defender, but he's had a nice run here at the end of the season. In the last four games he has a pair of helpers, six shots, three games where he played more than 25 minutes, two hits and 12 blocked shots. He's not lighting the world on fire, but you're getting value in at least a couple categories, even if it's low. There aren't many knockouts on the blue line Wednesday outside of Shayne Gostisbehere. Rielly can offer a little production.
Steve Mason - Goalie, Flyers ($8,100 - DraftKings)
The pick of the most expensive goaltender of the night is less about why Mason's so good, and more about why you might not want most of the other goaltenders. Detroit goaltending has been inconsistent, the Toronto and Columbus blue lines are a mess, Vancouver has been playing well making Cam Talbot a tough bet, and you probably don't want to go against the guy facing the Oilers on the final night of Rexall Place. That last one is maybe the lesser of the reasons, but the Oilers are a dynamic offensive team. The D may be miserable, but Ryan Miller is still going to be facing Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall, Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl. and crew.
