March Madness Bracket Predictions: Picks for the NCAA Tournament (West Region)

Seth's college basketball (CBB) March Madness bracket predictions for the West Region. NCAA Tournament picks, sleepers and busts - teams to target and avoid in your brackets.

March Madness is officially here and RotoBaller will be giving a full breakdown on each region, including some potential sleepers and busts. You can review the South Region here, East Region, Midwest Region - and now we'll be taking a look at the West Region.

This NCAA Tournament should be the wildest March Madness seen in years. I'm here to tell you some teams that I believe in - this should help you make the right tournament bracket decisions. Below I analyze the top four seeds, a potential bust, and a potential final four candidate. Hopefully my college basketball predictions can help you win your March Madness brackets. Now let's get to it.

Editor's Note: If you are interested in more college basketball columns, you can also check out our CBB DFS lineups picks and daily league predictions.

March Madness Picks for the West Region

Top Four Seeds: #1 Oregon, #2 Oklahoma, #3 Texas A&M, #4 Duke

This region is weak. Oregon as a one-seed. You have to be kidding me. I understand they blew out Utah in the Pac-12 championship game. But they lost at California by 20 and at Stanford who finished, who finished ninth in the conference. I'm not sure St. Joe's or Cincinnati could defeat Oregon in the second round, but I don't see the Ducks going farther than the Sweet 16.

Oklahoma is a team reliant on the jump shot. This team reminds me of Missouri in 2013. Missouri was a 2-seed too, and heavily relied on the jump shot and 3-point shot. They lost in the fist round to Norfolk State. I don't think Oklahoma gets upset in the first round, but one bad shooting night, especially for the Sooners, and they are toast.

I had Texas A&M as a bust a week ago and nothing has changed. They somehow were seeded higher than 4-seed Kentucky, even though Kentucky beat the Aggies in the SEC Championship. They were able to beat up on the lowly SEC and still lost to Alabama and LSU.

Duke will not make it out of the first weekend. Duke struggled against NC State in their ACC Tournament opener and blew a lead to Notre Dame in the quarterfinals. They are the 110th ranked defense on Kenpom.com, a team that bad on defense always struggles in the tournament. Also, Grayson Allen, you are awful.

Most Intriguing Matchup: 5. Baylor vs. 12. Yale

The classic 12 over 5 upset? Not this one. The Ivy League champion's first round matchup is always much anticipated, for some reason. Baylor was booted as a 3-seed last year to Georgia State, but this year they'll be ready to play. In the Big 12 tournament, they beat Texas handily and took Kansas the distance in Big 12 semifinals. Yale is happy to be back after a their 54-year drought.

Bust of the Region: Oklahoma

Read the above. Additionally, as much as I love watching Buddy Hield, I think it'll be hard to win many games in the tournament when you're 59th in the nation in rebounding.

Final Four Pick

Texas. I love the Longhorns this year. They are led by former VCU coach Shaka Smart who preaches defense. He completely changed this Texas program in his first year. They are revitalized and bring electricity to each game. They'll take care of Northern Iowa in the first round, and then beat Texas A&M in an old intra-state rivalry. If they face Oklahoma in the Sweet 16, well, they beat them on February 27 by 13, so it can definitely happen again. That brings them to the Elite Eight, where I think they will face Baylor, who they beat once this season.
