BALLER MOVE: Target ~160
CURRENT ADP: 195.7
ANALYSIS: David Wright spent the majority of 2015 on the disabled list with spinal stenosis, but was able to return in August and played right through the postseason run and into the World Series with the Mets. In September, his only full regular season month, he slashed .299/.396/.483 with 26 hits, 12 RBI, three homers and seven doubles in 23 games. In the postseason, his numbers improved by round, culminating with five hits and four RBI in a five-game World Series loss to the Kansas City Royals.
Last year, Wright played in his fewest games since his rookie year of 2004. The seven-time All-Star should be good to go this year, so fantasy owners shouldn’t be too weary. This is probably the best lineup in which he has ever played, and he’ll probably once again settle into the number two spot, right between Curtis Granderson and Yoenis Cespedes.
Wright is not a top third base option -- maybe not even a starting option -- but he can absolutely provide value in a corner infield slot or off the bench. The back is a legitimate concern, but it will also cause his draft stock to fall, and if he remains healthy, he can turn into your wisest pick-- a mid-draft gamble that pays off in a big way.
