BALLER MOVE: Target ~240
CURRENT ADP: 261.3
ANALYSIS: Just two years after finishing fourth in the AL Cy Young voting in 2013, Anibal Sanchez struggled mightily in 2015, posting a 4.99 ERA (4.73 FIP) and giving up 29 home runs, tied for the most in the AL. This number is truly puzzling, considering Sanchez allowed the lowest HR rate in the league in his dominant 2013 campaign (0.4 HR/9).
The soon-to-be 32-year-old suffered his worst season since 2008, which can partly be attributed to a lingering shoulder issue that led the team to shut him down near the end of the year. In June, it finally seemed as if Sanchez were settling into a groove, posting a 2.63 ERA and a .196 opposing BABIP for the month, and finishing a complete game shutout. However, his 11 HR allowed and 5.71 ERA in July and August helped bring his ERA back up to 4.99.
Sanchez' talent probably lies somewhere in between his 2013 and 2015 seasons. His ERA should return within the range of his career 3.70 ERA, and he could very easily be better than some of the guys being taken before him in drafts.
