Jed Lowrie’s injuries have caused headaches for front offices and after four seasons with the Boston Red Sox where he never played more that 88 games in a season, Lowrie began getting thrown back and forth between the Houston Astros and the Oakland Athletics. After his best season yet in 2012 with the Astros, Lowrie went on to hit a career best .290 with a .790 OPS, 15 home runs, 80 runs scored, and 75 RBI while wearing the Green Collar in Oakland. He played in 154 games and we got a look at what the healthy 2B could do in a full-time role.
Lowrie lasted two seasons in Oakland before signing a three-year deal with the Houston Astros. Yet again, he caught the injury bug and only lasted 69 games before being dealt back to Oakland.
Lowrie’s 2016 production relies solely on his health. He has shown that he can be a valuable contributor. His OBP is consistently above .300 and has displayed decent power, averaging an 8.03 HR/FB in the last four season. If he can stay on the field, the veteran could bring some value to your lineup.
