TARGET: Mid-Late Rounds (OF3)
ADP: 234
ANALYSIS:
ALERT. ALERT. Gerardo Parra is going to have a full-time playing opportunity at Coors Field. The Corey Dickerson trade to Tampa opening up a clogged outfield situation in Colorado, although it was difficult to see the Rockies not giving Parra ample playing time after signing him to a 3-year/$27.5M deal this offseason.
Parra was excellent for Milwaukee (.328) before struggling in Baltimore (.237) after a midseason trade. Overall he had a .291/.328/.452 split with 83 runs, 14 HR, and 11 SB. He set career highs in slugging, ISO (.161), wRC+ (108), and line drive rate (23.6%). The homers are nice, but I'm more excited for the XHB potential in spacious Coors Field. He's had at least four triples in the past three years and averaged just over five in his career. I fully anticipate Parra to set a career high (currently 8) in Coors.
The last remaining piece with Parra is where he fits in the lineup. Given Jose Reyes' legal troubles, Parra will likely bat 2nd to start the season. If he can get off to a hot start and claim the role for his own, he's got an excellent chance at reach 85+ runs and is a lock to have a 10/10 campaign. Grab Parra as your final outfielder in shallow leagues and reap the benefits of a player in Coors.
