It doesn’t get much better than Clayton Kershaw. In 2015 he posted 232.2 IP, 2.13 ERA, 301 SO, and my personal favorite--a 1.99 FIP (which points to his level of dominance and disregards possible defensive issues). Kershaw is the best there is, arguably the best there was, and possibly the best there ever will be; thanks Bret Hart. Maybe we should nickname Kershaw “The Hitman.” Fans should genuinely fear what it might look like if Clayton Kershaw were to have a career year, or if the Dodgers offense provided above-average run support. In 2015 Dallas Keuchel, the reigning AL Cy Young award winner, pitched the same number of innings as Kershaw, but received 5.819 runs support per nine innings pitched, while Kershaw received just 4.457. Clearly if Kershaw received 5.819 runs support in 2016 he has the chance to win 25 games, easily, if not every single start. Simply put, this is the guy you want on your team, and with Greinke gone there is just more weight for him to carry. But if his consistency has proven anything, it is that he doesn’t mind putting the team on his back.
