Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte remained limited in practice on Friday and is officially listed as questionable for Week 10 against the St. Louis Rams. If you are considering starting him this week, you will have to keep a close eye on his injury status leading up to game time.
Bears head coach John Fox has always been super secretive with the statuses of his players. Obviously if Forte starts, he should be a RB1 against the Rams. If he doesn’t play, backup Jeremy Langford should be considered a RB2
Through seven games this season Forte has 548 yards on 136 carries for an average of four yards per carry. He has two touchdowns on the ground. Forte is also a great fantasy option in PPR leagues. He has 25 receptions for 219 yards and another touchdown through the air.
Meanwhile, Langford has 152 yards on 45 carries for an average of 3.4 yards per carry. He has three touchdowns.
Alshon Jeffery owners will be happy to hear that he returned to a limited practice on Friday and should be good to go on Sunday despite being listed as questionable on the injury report.
Coach Fox said he “liked what he saw” from Jeffery in practice on Friday. That’s great news for Cutler owners too. Jeffery leads the NFL with 123 receiving yards per game. Through the four games he has played in this season he has recorded 33 receptions for 492 yards and two touchdowns. As long as he plays he should be considered at a minimum a WR2 in all fantasy football formats.
In regards to Cutler, I don’t like his matchup this week against the Rams. I’d consider him a QB2 at best.
In other news, New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick underwent surgery to repair ligaments in his left thumb. Despite having surgery, head coach Todd Bowles expects him to be ready to face the Houston Texans in Week 11.
Through nine games this season Fitzpatrick has completed 169 of 283 passes for a completion percentage of 59.7. He has thrown for 1983 yards and 15 touchdowns. He has also thrown nine interceptions.
If Fitzpatrick isn’t ready to play in Week 11 Geno Smith would start in his place. Smith has only played in one game this season. In that game he completed 27 of 42 passes for a completion percentage of 64.3. He threw two touchdowns and one interceptions.
