Wes Welker (WR, Stl) - Waiver Wire Pickups

Baller Move: Leave on the waiver wire

Owned In: 7% of Fleaflicker Leagues

Analysis: Stedman Bailey's second suspension in as many years has tagged Wes Welker back into the ring. It might not be as much fun for the 34-year-old veteran this time around though. After playing with two of the four quarterbacks that belong on NFL's version of Mount Rushmore, Welker will now be targeted by Nick Foles. His return could be as anticlimactic as that sentence.

It's been the Todd Gurley show in St. Louis, and Welker will have a perfect seat for it. Foles has not thrown for over 200 yards since Week 1, nor is he adept at throwing the ball efficiently in the routes Welker has fed his family running. Welker is now a part of a less than stifling wide receiver core of Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt, and will most likely fall into their lack of production with them.

The Rams appear optimistic about signing Welker. "He's in outstanding shape," coach Jeff Fisher said, according to ESPN.com. "He's anxious and eager to play...Whether he's active this week, I can't predict. I think he'll be able to move some chains for us." Welker is 178 yards shy of 10,000 on his career, a feat likely achievable, but one that won't necessarily move too many chains for fantasy owners. It would be smart to monitor Welker's progress first, and see how he fits in St. Louis.
