Marcus Mariota, who missed the past two weeks with a knee injury, is slated to practice fully and return to the gridiron this week for the Tennessee Titans road match-up against the New Orlean Saints. Mariota had a big start to his first three games of the season, throwing for a combined 833 yards and eight TD in his first year as a pro. Since that time he has had a drop off in production and then was hampered with an injury.
The good news for Mariota owners is that in Week 9 the Titans face off against a New Orleans Saints defense which created a new definition for the word "horrible." Their defense allowed a disastrous 49 points last week at home against the New York Giants. For those looking to start last year's Heisman Trophy winner in their line up this week should be sure to do so. With the Saints awful vertical pass defense, start Mariota as a QB2 a feel confident he put up solid numbers.
Fellow teammate and second year running back Antonio Andrews will be looking to get an increased workload this week and going forward as interim head coach Mike Mularkey referred to him as a "workhorse" when asked about him. So far this year, Andrews has not received the bulk of the workload until last week when he was given the rock 16 times for 64 yards and caught three balls for 18 yards.
Antonio has showed some promising upside so far this year, and if he's available in your league should be picked up immediately based on this new information from the coach. Again, since the Titans have a favorable matchup with a porous Saints defense this week, look for the Titans to get Andrews going early in hopes to open up the passing game for Mariota. Owners should consider him a low-end RB2 this week.
