Browns RB Duke Johnson Jr. has been an asset to fantasy players in PPR leagues this season. With the volume of injuries at the position over the last few weeks, it is time that players in all leagues consider adding the rookie.
Johnson has struggled running the ball this season, averaging just 3.2 yards per carry and zero rushing TDs. He has been very involved in the passing game, with the seventh-most targets among RBs in the league. He has 33 catches for 331 yards on the season.
Against the Cardinals last week, Johnson had two catches for 68 yards, with one of those catches going for 52 yards. He is clearly the most explosive back in Cleveland and the Browns will continue to find ways to get him the ball. Fellow Browns RBs Isaiah Crowell and Robert Turbin have struggled this season, and we have to wonder if there are more touches headed Johnson's way.
Johnson has proven to be a solid RB2 in PPR leagues. His sustained usage in the passing game makes him a flex play with some upside in standard leagues. If Johnson is able to break off some big plays and up his TD total, we could be looking at a break-out candidate.
This week the Browns will play the Bengals who have let up a surprising amount of points to opposing RBs. Make sure Johnson is owned in your league.
