If you own Vincent Jackson in any fantasy football leagues, he’s probably not your favorite player this season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver has struggled with inconsistency throughout the season thus far and now he’s dealing with a knee injury that will likely keep him out of Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Jackson’s inconsistencies probably aren’t his fault. Whenever a team starts a rookie quarterback (in this case Jameis Winston), the offense is bound to have some ups and downs. But it’s a blow for Jackson’s owners if he does sit out this week. He would have been a WR2 against a poor Falcons defense.
Jackson has 21 receptions for 319 yards and two touchdowns thus far this season. However, he has only caught one ball in each of the team’s past two games.
If Jackson does indeed miss Week 8, Mike Evans will likely see a ton of targets from his rookie quarterback. Evans could be considered a high-end WR2, especially considering the Bucs will likely have to throw the ball early and often when going up against the Falcons, a team that has one of the most explosive offenses in the league this season.
I would be looking to trade Jackson if at all possible in dynasty and keeper leagues. He’ll be 33 next season and the Bucs will eventually begin phasing him out.
In other news, the Dallas Cowboys may be without their opening day starting running back Joseph Randle in Week 8. Randle is dealing with an oblique injury and was not seen practicing on Wednesday. NFL Network’s Rand Getlin reported earlier in the week that the team expects him to “miss some time” with the injury.
Randle’s owners would have had to be desperate to start him this week anyways. Not only are the Cowboys going up against the tough Seattle Seahawks defense, Randle has seemingly lost the starting running back job to Darren McFadden.
Randle actually did play well when given an opportunity to carry the load for the Cowboys. He had 76 rushes for 313 yards and four touchdowns. He is averaging 4.1 yards per carry thus far this season. He also hauled in 10 passes for 87 yards.
Randle is still worth holding onto in all fantasy football leagues. McFadden may be the team’s starting back right now, but he has a storied injury history. If McFadden goes down, Randle would likely get the opportunity to earn the team’s starting job back.
