Colin Kaepernick (QB, SF) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Avoid in all formats

OWNED IN: 47% of Fleaflicker Leagues

ANALYSIS: No one has ever questioned Colin Kaepernick's raw talent. He has all the physical tools to succeed, but the consistency simply isn't there this season. He's torn apart the Steelers (335 yards, 2 TDs), Giants (262 yards, 2 TDs) and Ravens (340 yards, 2 TDs), but laid eggs against the Cardinals (67 yards, 4 INTs) and Seahawks (124 yards). The struggles against Arizona and Seattle are particularly discouraging this week as the San Francisco 49ers travel to face another NFC West foe in the St. Louis Rams.

The Rams have been nothing short of dominant in their three home games this season. In those three contests, St. Louis' defense has allowed only two offensive touchdowns, and just one through the air. Simply put, the matchup here is a nightmare for Kaepernick. The last time these two teams met (Nov. 2, 2014 in Santa Clara), Kaepernick was sacked eight times and lost a pair of fumbles.

The smart move is simply to avoid playing Kaepernick this week. If you're feeling dangerous and want to roll with him in a GPP, at least he's likely to have low ownership. But there are better options across the board.
