Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles and wide receiver Allen Hurns have been big surprises to fantasy owners so far this season. Bortles has managed to throw seven touchdowns in his last two games, giving him 13 total on the season. Hurns, meanwhile, has caught a touchdown pass in his last four games, while also catching for 332 yards in that span.
While Bortles appears to have avoided the dreaded sophomore slump thus far, he has still battled with a turnover issue, throwing seven interceptions in six games. That's more turnovers than the Jags would like to see, but he's still doing a tremendous job moving the ball down the field and utilizing his young receiving corps. Hurns has emerged as Bortles' favorite target lately and already has 29 receptions through six games.
The duo enters Week 7 with a matchup against a struggling Buffalo Bills defense. The Bills defense was expected to be among the elite defenses in the NFL this year, but they have struggled against the pass, giving up multiple touchdown passes in every game but one so far.
Last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, quarterback Andy Dalton was able to throw for 243 yards, three touchdowns and zero turnovers. Wide receiver Marvin Jones also had a great day against the Bills, catching nine balls for 95 yards and a touchdown.
Obviously the Cincinnati Bengals are a much better team than the Jacksonville Jaguars overall, but that doesn't necessarily matter in fantasy. Blake Bortles continues to put up huge numbers despite turnovers and is finding both Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson with regularity. Bortles now also has tight end Julius Thomas back and healthy, so that is another weapon in his arsenal to throw to.
If you own Bortles and Allen Hurns in fantasy, I recommend playing them both this week against the Bills. I like the hot streak to continue and definitely think they will hook up for another touchdown against the Bills in London. Bortles and Hurns also make for a great stack play in DFS.
